PANIC NO MORE

#

The Off button on The Hitchhiker's Guide has been depressed and the Restaurant at the End of the Universe pauses for one eternity -- the equivalent of an instant elsewhen -- for one sad reason. There will be no sixth volume to the trilogy, nor will we ever learn the exact composition of the Pangalactic Gargleblaster -- in fact, I must content myself with a sheer gargleblaster (a chili pod filled with honey macerated three days in your favorite eighty proof poison) -- to bring out a toast to a unique fella. DOUGLAS ADAMS succumbed to a heart attack on May 11th, 2001, in his home on the California coast; he was only forty-nine years old. I don't know about you folk, but I shall miss him sorely. So long, Doug, And Thanks For All The Fun!  (Fred Schütz, for all of us -- and never forget your towel and your Guide with Don't Panic in large friendly letters on its cover.)
